ITIL
The IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) is a process-oriented IT control framework for service management organizations. Developed in the late 1980s by the United Kingdom’s government, this framework has been widely adopted and is now the most accepted and used IT service management best practices approach in the world. The latest version of ITIL, version 3, specifically mandates log management as part of problem management and Identity & Access Management and requires periodic review of user activity.
To ensure success of the ITSM implementations, LogLogic has defined the following Service Validation steps based on collecting and analyzing log data that is already available in any data center today:
Assess the current state of the IT services
Monitor the ongoing status of the IT services
Measure the result of the process implementations
Validate the effectiveness and benefits of the process changes
The benefits of LogLogic’s solutions for ITIL:
- The LogLogic Open Log Management platform builds the foundation to monitor user and system activity.
- LogLogic also provides a free ITIL Edition in the LogLogic Compliance Suite with reports that align to all four areas of the ITIL framework (see below).
- LogLogic Security Event Manager can help prioritize the daily stream of event and automate incident management follow-up.
- LogLogic Database Security Manager adds specialized monitoring for your databases, including real-time blocking of suspicious activities.
While LogLogic can provide you with the tools to enable you to achieve compliance, LogLogic cannot determine if you have met your compliance objectives. For any such determinations, you are advised to consult with a qualified advisor.
