LogLogic: LogMatters - July 2010

Log Matters - July 2010

July has been a great month for us. We had a great Q2, with sales up 25%. We've been in the press a lot as well, with coverage of our cloud activities, as well as our partner activities. One of our lead Log Evangelists, Gorka Sadowski, had a great article in the French trade press on the importance of logs for protecting your digital privacy. (It's in French, so you'll have to take my word for it). Back at Log Central, we're working away at a big announcement for the near future, so stay tumed for some exciting content. Meanwhile, make sure you check out our blog. Christophe Briguet has a log management sizing app for the iPhone, and our very own legal nerd, Barbara Rogan, shares some thoughts about how a recent Supreme Court case in the US will affect innovation. Happy reading and be sure to keep an eye out for news in August!

Customer Spotlight: National Archives and Records Administration (NARA)

Driven to comply with the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), NARA determined that log management was the ideal way to establish robust auditing and incident response capabilities as well as ensure network performance.
You can read more about their selection process and implementation in the case study.

Those few companies that are normally argue the operational burden or the potential legal liability but these outdated notions are based primarily on a lack of understanding, internal culture or resource constraints.

The first Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) related App for the iPhone!
I’m staggered. As you know we’ve spent the last 12 months (or longer for some people) with our heads down working on the “next big thing”. Everyone here is running on max-power as we gear up for the grand unveiling.  And yet somehow, one of our brethren has found the time to build the first SIEM-related iPhone app…Christophe Briguet, you are legend.

Bilski, the Supreme Court, and Lost
By Barbara Rogan, LogLogic General Counsel
Well, we finally have an answer from the Supreme Court in the Bilski case, but frankly I feel like I’ve just finished watching an episode of Lost. Why? The Supreme Court decision answered one question but raised many more questions – at least for technology companies.
