IT Data Management
What is IT Data Management?
IT data is everywhere. IT data is simply the data about your information technology. It comes in many forms, and most of it remains unused. IT data can come from log files, switches, routers, firewalls, server hardware, directory servers, databases, Microsoft infrastructure, application logs, regular old files and many more sources. IT data is not just about events that occur in your environment, but also metadata about your network and systems, application data, performance data, flow data and even accounting data. Simply, IT data is like non-stop “tweets” from IT assets. Each tweet provides valuable piece of information yet it’s scattered across locations and difficult to access.IT Data Management is the practice of methodically collecting, storing, enriching, and reporting on your IT data.
How does IT Data Management help?
IT data is scattered across locations both on-premise and in the cloud, is difficult to access with many different interfaces, is hard to understand without context, and is needed by many other analytic systems such as IT Operations Management, Security Event Management, IT GRC (governance, risk management, and compliance), SLA Management, and other third party applications. By collecting, centralizing and enriching the data, IT Data Management makes your data useable and useful for everyone and every system that needs it whether it’s to achieve compliance, manage security threats or better monitor operational performance.
